Camco/Love combo?

I want to use the Love TS-13010 Digital Temperature Switch to control a Camco 02953 5500W 240V heating element in my mash tun. Will this work? Will the controller handle the 5500 watt element?

No, the 5500w element uses 23 amps at 240 volts. The relay in that control is rated for 16 amps.

You probably need to look for a PID type of control rather than a thermostat type. The PID will hold the mash temperature more accurately. An Auber PID and a SSR will do the job. Search the forums for Auber 2352 or something similar.

you could of course use a controller like that (not exactly that one) to output to a appropriately sized mechanical relay or solid state relay to switch the element.
