How much volume loss should I expect when dry hopping with pellets? I have an IPA that I am planning on dry hopping with an ounce each of Columbus, Centennial, and Cascade pellets in a few weeks.

Below is the recipe specs if anyone is curious... This is my first all grain/original recipe. I had 5.5 gallons pre-fermentation, but its looks like I've lost .5 - 1 gallon to all the hop trub that has settled since the carboy has calmed down.

I'm not really worried about having less beer, but more so curious how I can go about calculating/accounting for these losses in the future.

9.25 lbs 2-row
2.25 lbs Vienna Mashed @ 150 for 1 hr
.75 lbs Crystal 60

.33 oz Columbus
.33 oz Centennial @ 60, 15, 10, 5, and Whirlpool
.33 oz Cascade

O.G. 1.067 White Labs California Ale @ 68 degrees.

I dry hopped with about 6oz of hops and lost about 1/2 gallon. Those pellet hops take up a ton of volume once they break apart!
