Spoke to a Pepsi guy today (11/17/09) during his last day at a plant that is now shut down. Pepsi has announced that premix is going away for good so the market should be flooding with cornys. I cannot actually vouch for the info and couldn't say if corporate cut a deal overseas for the stainless but I might suggest if you're in the market to watch prices-- they very well could drop. Cheers!

I don't think the market is tight enough for this to have any sort of impact. I get my supplies from Rebel Brewer at their storefront and they seem to have plenty o' Corny kegs available for a reasonable price.

While I hope this could be true, I have not seen a corny in active duty for years. It has been BiB for a very long time.

Vid, that's been a rumor for about 20 years. Either ball lock kegs will soon flood the market, or they will soon be extinct. In either case, post-mix systems are "to blame." I've yet to see evidence of either.

Every few months these rumors seem to pop up.

in other parts of the world, corny kegs are still used for soda syrup. when the local pepsi bottling company stopped using corny kegs, they loaded most of them into ocean cargo containers and sent them overseas... the ones they didn't send were the beat-up ones that they sold to scrap companies and homebrew shops.

The hospital I work at uses hundreds of corny kegs for their premix systems. Said hospital is less than two years old.

There are cornies all over my hospital's lab. They use them for a ton of things. (although I guarantee these ones aren't ex-pepsi)

Fact: It is true that Pepsi is headed towards completely discontinuing use of them for their soda.
Opinion: I do not think they will flood the market or have any effect on pricing though.
