How much should I pay for used 15 gal kegs that I would like to convert to a boiler and mash tun?

If you search the forum you'll see quite a few posts on this topic. However -

New kegs cost upwards of $150 or so
This is what the breweries pay
Buying used (and hopefully legal decommissioned) you should expect to pay around $30-50 or more
Other means may not be as legal - as in buying on Craigslist (if you do, please be sure to go for the ones from the crappy breweries that make that colored water, you know the ones I'm talking about I'm sure)

I'd suggest you contact local breweries and liquor stores. If you can contact distributors in your area you might get lucky there as well. Good luck in your search

I just purchased two kegs from a liquor store for $30/each. Call around and of course check craigslist.

I am not sure how it all works but I was only allowed to buy Anheuser-Busch company kegs. He could not sell me miller/coors kegs. He had two New Belgium kegs there too but I guess they are now being distributed by Coors so I could not have them.

One guy wants $20 for one and another guy wants $50 for two!!! Sweet. I now can also make a fermenter out of the third one.

A few months ago I scored 3 for $20. I was happy that day. The guy was a home brewer with plans on reusing the kegs for his beer, but decided 15.5 gal was way too much of one thing. After hanging on to them for some time (2 years from what I gathered) he wanted them out of his backyard.
