I often will get a white residue building up inside of my clear siphon tubing. Curiously, it doesn't seem to build up inside of my auto siphon at all, just the tube.

Initially, I thought it was beer stone, but after reading up on beer stone, I'm not fully convinced. This stuff seems more gooey than "stony" (if that's even a word) and doesn't want to come off with soaks in either 1-Step or StarSan.

I typically just replace the 6ft section of tubing every few months and haven't worried about it much, but lately I've started to wonder what the cause might be.

Any thoughts?

Could it be starsan that dries in there? I use Iodophor which always stains the tube.
