Hi,

After months of reading, finding the right parts, thinking, procrastinating, etc... I've completed my e-brewing setup. I brewed my first brew last saturday and it went flawlessly. Pretty happy with the outcome. I had to compose with a lot of factor, limited space, wife approval to name a few. Basically it is a DYI eBrewSupply 30amp panel with a custom made HLT and MT with an SS Brewtech BK all mounted on a Ikea BEKVÄM reinforced cart. My first brew was a SMASH Cascade, still fermenting in the SS Brewtech fermenter.

Here are some pics of the setup:

Thanks to all for the valuable information I could gathered in this forum.
Cheers!:mug:

In winter, I just close the door of a dedicated room and leave the thermostat at 20c (68f). During summer I use a brewjacket to control the temp.

Cheers

How are you controlling fermentation temp?

I'm not quite understanding something, maybe I am just missing it. It sounded in your first post as if your first brew was a SMASH Cascade, still fermenting in the SS Brewtech fermenter.

And then, just above, you say in response to my inquiry as to how you're controlling fermentation temp, "In winter....During summer...."

Help me with this: it sure sounds like your SMASH Cascade isn't your first brew.

Not my first brew as a homebrewer, but my first brew with this specific setup. Just so I get use to it and then, crank up my game on the next brew session.

Hope it clarifies things up [emoji16]

Did you use the screw on the door latch as a grounding post? That's pretty slick, did you send off the paint where it touches the back of the enclosure when closed?

Yes, I did use that screw as a grounding post. But after talking to Ryan at ebrewsupply he made me realized that this wasn't even necessary to have a ground on that side of the door. Since the panel is all metal, no paint, the grounding post on the other side of the door is sufficient. I already had it wired and all attached so I left it like that. That doesn't hurt much.

Thanks!

wife approval accounts for more than you think.
I'm very thankful wife loves beer as much as i do and fully supports and encourages. In fact she gives me ideas sometimes for creative beers. Currently have an Imperial Jelly Ring Stout in the fermenter, because.....well she likes Jelly Rings and asked if i could try to make one

My wife and I like beer. Before I came along she didn't even like beer. Shes bought me as many AG beer kits as I have myself. I bounce my next brew ideas off her . She even helps me bottle when she has time.
