I was at a party last night, and most of us were drinking my homebrews when a guy at the party brought out a bottle of something new from Budweiser. He encouraged us all to take a taste. It was chocolate flavored Bud or something like that. I smelled it, but didn't try it. It smelled like hot chocolate dissolved in Bud instead of water. A couple of the guys tried it and said it was ok, most said it was horrible.

Is this a new release for the holidays? And the biggest question.....Why?

I wonder if that is the Bare Knuckle Stout. Me and the Wife went to Busch Gardens this fall and tried several types of beer that Anhuieser(sp) Busch produces and that is one I tried.

Very weak and watered down for a stout, not going to bash BMC, but I wouldn't buy it.

I think I had the same experience. Last night one of my friends brought over a s pack of AB Winters Bourbon Cask Ale. The caption says "Ale aged on bourbon barrel oak and vanilla beans, and its 6.0 ABV. I gotta say, for mega brew, this is not too bad. You could really taste the vanilla flavor.

When I tried the AB Winters Bourbon Cask Ale, you could indeed taste the vanilla. It tasted like someone had poured a whole bottle of imitation vanilla into the bottle of beer. Gack. I like vanilla, but that was a little too much.

I've seen that brew at the store. It comes in a gift box with the chocolate and a vanilla brew, along with two glasses. The bottles have an interesting shape but have twist off caps. I thought long and hard about buying it (at least 10 seconds) and decided it wasn't worth $17 for two 32oz bottles of BMC.

I came home and checked the ratings on ratebeer.com. i don't recall anything favorable about it.

That said, I did have an Amberbock at SeaWorld that had a chocolate spyke in it. Not too bad actually. I would have preferred slightly less of the chocolate and carbonation but it wasn't overly offensive.
