Hello fellow Brewers!
I'm designing a brown ale on the similar side to DogFish Heads Indian Brown Ale. Going lighter on the hops and abv. I want to add some flaked oats to get a smoother mouth feel. I won't be using any Crystal 60 that recipe calls for. Going for a more maltier brown so I added in more Marris Otter to the base mix.
Grains
5 lbs Marris Otter
4 lbs 2 row Rahr
12 oz Amber Malt
9.6 oz Chocolate Malt
2.4 oz Roasted Barley
1 lb Flaked Oats
Wyeast 1137 Ringwood
Hops
1/2oz Nugget 60min
1/2 Chinook 10min
1/2 Chinook Dry Hop 5 days
I'm Contemplating on adding in the 1/2 lb of dark brown sugar to the last 10 mins.
I'll be brewing this beer to have ready to drink by thanksgiving. So I have time to figure out this recipe.
Just looking for opinions on this recipe. I'm all ears. Thanks.
