How do you guys get the tubing off of your siphon? I don't know if I just put the tubing too far on the cane or what, but I could not get it off. After various methods, instead of getting the tube off, I broke my cane at the curve. So that I don't do that again, is there a trick to getting the tube off other then don't put so much of it on the cane?
Thanks
Jim

I run it under very hot water for a minute or two when the tubing gets pushed on a little too far or gets stuck. Also trying to twist the tubing helps to break it loose without trashing the siphon tube.

Why take it off? I simply rinse it out in the sink and run cleaner and sanitizer through it.

I'd tried the hot water, and it was actually while I was twisting it that it broke. I have a feeling I just had it on there way too far. That's a good point about even bothering to take it off.
Thanks!

I have yet to find a reason to take the tubing off the cane. I just pump starsan solution through it before each use and never have had a problem.

Things I learned today: you can take (or at least try to) the inner tube out the auto-siphon.

Use a sharp knife and slit the end of the tubing lengthwise, remove tubing, cut off 1/2 inch. When the tubing gets too short, replace it.

I have one of the large size autosiphons and use 3/8 ID silicone tubing - it fits tightly but is pretty easy to slip on and off. No worries about sanitizing the inside of the tubing - just take it off and boil it.

I take my tubing off the cane because I use it for multiple purposes, and some of those do not include an autosiphon. For instance, I use the same tubing to rack the wort to my BK after a mash.
