I am a noob at this, but why are the sugars in the grain section. I'd prefer another button or tab for sugars. Or even in the Misc. section.

Why would they include it in the grain bill when it goes into the final boil and not the mash?
 
Because they're fermentables, just like grain, regardless of when you put them in. I havent used BeerSmith, but BeerAlchemy just labels that section as "Fermentables" rather than "Grains"

That actually makes more sense than being included in the grain.
