It's a beautiful day here in Sunny California and I'm getting ready to brew my Honey Wheat Ale. I got a friend who's coming over to help out, he's becoming a big fan of my brews (woohoo!) and even drinks the ones that "could have been better". Anyway, who else is brewing this weekend?

P.S. I think we just need a standing "weekend brewing" thread...:mug:

Supposed to be racking my brews from three weeks ago from the secondary to the kegs so I can put last week's brews into the secondary. I can't find my new *(^*&^*(^%#$ O-rings!!!

Pisses me right off. I put them somewhere 'safe' when I was, uh, sampling. They're safe all right.

Driving over to the Kaiser's this weekend to meet up with he, Boston, and a couple other folks. Haven't completely decided what's brewing; definately a malty American red ale, haven't decided whether to bring it up to Strong Ale territory or just brew it in the ~1055 - 1060 range.

Strange concept, but with Spring roaring in, I decided to do some landscaping chores. Yesterday, I was digging out part of a drainage ditch. Re-staked and tied some fruit trees, made certain the anti-deer guards were secure. Tried out my limb-saw on a fir that was encroaching on the pump house. Ditto on a bunch of trash trees around the property. Wasn't able to get all of them. My right arm got numb and the ones growing through the fence will have to be done with a bucksaw.

Rain & warm predicted for the next ten days, perfect brewing weather. So, maybe Sunday.

Batch sparging a brew right now. While boiling i will be outside scooping up the winters dog poo that has litered the back yard and giving the dogs a little spring kenel cleaning.

all while drinking heavily:mug:

It's a gorgeous day here in Austin. I'm organizing the garage with my beer stuff on new shelving and kegging some Apfelwein.

Tomorrow is brew day for an All Grain Anchor Liberty Ale. My first IPA style beer.

As it is St. Patty's Day I am both brewing and bottling today.:mug:
I have to make up for all I am drinking today anyway.:drunk:

Brewing a Paulaner Hefeweizen clone this Tuesday or Wednesday .... close enough to this weekend, eh ?

I racked porter to secondary earlier, I'm conducting the mash for an ESB right now. Partial mash with 6 lbs of Maris Otter (7.5 lbs grain total) - biggest mash I've done yet. Extract is making up 25% of the recipe.

Just finished brewing Hazelnut Stout #2. I'm just waiting for it to cool to pitching temperature.

This time I changed the steeping method (30 minutes at 160F), used whole hops, and extended the boil time.

Edit: More hoppy than the original. I like it, but SWMBO may not. The hazelnut will probably cover most of it.

Cool and cloudy, with rain threatening. Thought I'd get a couple batches out of the way, but a minor mousehap prevented that.

Got the 3CPA done.

Something less than 8 lbs Maris Otter LME
1.5 lbs DME extra light
1/2 lb C40L

1 oz. Columbus pellets @ 60
0.5 oz. Chinook @ 45

Mixed 1/2 oz. each Cascades, Perle, Amarillo and added
1/4 at 20, 15,10, 5

OG about 1.060

Pitched on cake from 1909 Mild (Nottingham)

Dry hop, decide later, leaning towards more Amarillo.

Well, I seem to have a difficult time breaking the "big 3-0" barrier here. Dang. This weekend was shot due to getting back around midnight from a business trip in NC.

But, while I was down there, my mom-in-law found a dog listed in the paper who needs a home, and I met him, and, well, it's meant to be. Look out, Sadie, you're gonna have some competition:

Just too beautiful.

So, there's next weekend, too...gotta go pick him up. 5.5 hours each way. So, who knows when I'll be able to brew next. But...well...that's a good thing, considering I'm still 20-some cases deep in backstock, and I still have four brews in carboy too. Whew.

I brewed up a batch of Irish Stout yesterday, being St. Paddy's and all I figured that was appropriate. Since I'm still new to the game my planning wasn't what it should be - I should have made the stout in Nov - Dec to consume for St. Paddy's - next year that will be the way.

3CPA foam-out overnight. I expected that and have it in a kitchen sink. Excellent aroma.

Well it was another successful brewing/drinking weekend. My brew has already gushed out the blow-off tube and going strong... yummy... Now I just have to bottle my ESB sometime this week....

yesterday for the wife as she loves that kind of beer. Gotta admit that is smelled wonderful during the brew and even better in the hydrometer tube. Not that I like this kind of beer that much I'm sure it will be a drinker.

Racked my stout (which seems to be more of a porter with oats) to secondary and had a bit of time left to brew an IPA. I love when the wife endulges my hobbies.

Brewed a weizenbock and a strong dark belgian this morning. Probably won't be brewing again for a couple weeks. Bottling my IPA this Thursday, I think.

Brewed my Huxley ESB partial mash and my "Afternoon Delight" Ginger Wheat yesterday. Brew Bitch Creek ESB tomorrow and our club is doing a group brew next Saturday. 30 gallons of Koelsch. mmm...mmmm...mmm....yummy.

It was a little warm here for St. Patty's Day so I waited until 10 PM to start brewing. Brewed up my Obsidian Clone and attempted a Mirror Pond Clone all the while enjoying gold medal winning brews from the past competition.
