Put on a stout kit from can day before yesterday. In the barrel went the can of stout, 1kg of stout DME, a blob of treacle and about a cup or so of sugar.

I have been keeping an eye on it, after day one, no bubbling from the airlock. I opened up, looks like things are happening inside, nice froth etc. Day two today, same kind of issue. Checked for leaks, all ok. Have warmed the barrel up (it may have been a bit of a cold start).

Any thoughts? I'm starting to think I'll have to throw away 23litres of stout :(. P-s , there seems to be pressure in the airlock, one water level is way smaller than the other. Just never bubbles.

Update - yes the yeast went in, I mean, could be a bad yest batch ... hmmm

You can see yeast doing something, so assume there's an air leak somewhere, and stop opening the fermenter for a couple of weeks.
It's a stout, they can use time on the clock without getting checked every day :)
Worry about this "barrel" later...

Cheers!
