Your choice of brew should be decided based on what and when you want to drink it. If you want to drink it next week, don't decide to brew a barleywine.

An APA or IPA is always good. Maybe a stout if you like those. I've had a Burton ale fermenting for about a week & a half now. But that one will be for no sooner that turkey day. But,I guess anything short of a wheat beer would take till then from BK to glass at this point. So I'd go with a pale ale of some kind if you don't want to wait on a big beer to get good in bottles.

If you're a beginner, brew a simple APA.

Try,

8 lbs 2-row
1 lb c40
.5 lb carapils

1 oz cascade 60
1 oz cascade 15

pitch Safale-05... good anywhere between low 60s and mid 70s. Pretty much can't screw that up.

He's brewing extract. If you want,go to my profile & check out my Sunset Gold APA recipe. All extract, easy & quite good with a malt profile/color similar to DFH's.

Another good choice. Makes me wish I could clone the Yuengling Black & tan. A pale mixed with a porter. Smooth & quite good!
