Live in Saudi Arabia a very dry country lol. I tried to use some no alcohol beer with sugar and yeast I made 5 lts and added 1/2 cup sugar and 1/8 tsp of yeast. Set for two weeks then bottled adding 2 TSP sugar. Set for one week. In 1 lt bottles but very little carbonation. Any advice? Thanks
 
A very pointed question I know but are you in Dhahran? I know there is a small but active community of homebrewers (westerners) on the compound of a certain company there I could probably get you in touch with. I'm actually on a plane heading to saudi tomorrow.

I have done wine for the past few years but ready for a change. Was just sitting here bored thinking I would find any other ideas. Have a safe trip and enjoy the Magical Kingdom.
 
Alright, well I guess my advice would be to not half-ass it. You shouldn't need to be re-fermenting near beer when it is possible to get the real ingredients and do it properly, whole-assed. I'm not sure how they're getting the ingredients but I can look into it. Unfortunately no fun will be had this trip nor any of my past trips to the kingdom. I'm a consultant so I only go places where there are catastrophes happening, so to speak. At least they pay me well for my services :/
 
I experimented with a similar concept. I bought a 6 pack of Barbican N/A beer, dumped it all in a pot and boiled it with some sugar, orange peel, and coriander and pitched it with some baker's yeast. After fermenting for a week, I threw in some extra sugar and siphoned it back into the twist-cap bottles. After a week, I ended up with a very fizzy weird belgian ale, like a light Blue Moon. Judging from the buzz I'm guessing it fermented to about 4-something ABV. It's aging well, even after just 2 weeks. It can can be done!
 
Pardon my 50% honest 50% trollish question, but;

if caught drinking alcohol in Arabia, aren't you qualified for a public lashing in the streets? :confused:. Seems very tragic to a westerner.

well I can't speak for OP as I don't know where he is, but the place I go is a large compound for a company that employs a lot of westerners. Drinking is permitted there as well as somewhat relaxed rules regarding women. They even sell some crappy lager in the commissary. All the westerners live in the compound, once you leave the gates then all the crazy rules apply.

But the question is still can you make Alcoholic beer from NA beer? Does it taste good?
