Brewing at friends then driving wort home?

I'd like to brew at a friend's house next week....

I've always just brewed at my house....

My question is.... will it hurt my wort to be driven home...? Its about an hour trip, so its going to slosh around. I usually end up with about 2 gallons to 2 and a quarter gallons of wort.. into a 3 gallon fermenter.

Would it be best to pitch the yeast after getting back home, or let it slosh and aerate in the wort for the hour drive?


Or is this just a terrible idea....?

Sorry if this is a dumb question. I tried searching it several different ways here and came up with nothing!
 
not any different than shaking your bucket or whisking the crap out of it.
Just make sure it's under 80*
 
Good... that is all I was hoping for....

I'll get it down to under 70 there using ice and the kitchen sink...


Then I'll buckle my good friend into the back seat and drive him home to ferment at a nice 63 degrees or so. :rockin:
 
I knew this had to be done by others... I just couldn't find any info on it..

Happy now... going to be a great brew day next Tuesday!

It shouldnt hurt anything. You will be fine. My buddy does it all the time since he usually brews @ my house.

Cool. I was just worried that the sloshing could aid in oxidation during the drive... especially since its about an hour drive.

But I'll never know for sure until I try!

The answers here have made me much more confident.

Oxidation is encouraged at this stage, sine there is no ETOH present.

After fermentation, alcohol+oxygen=acetic acid (vinegar)
