Hi there,

I have a question about the amount of the brew. According to the instruction (Mangrove jack's Czech pilsener), each time needs to add the malt extract, dextrose and add water up to 23 liters. It's quite much for me to finish the whole batch. Can I only add the malt extract without adding dextrose and add half amount of the water (around 11.5 liters). Do you think that will work? Cheers~

No idea here...let me reread:D

Edit: o.k. I think I figured this out. Do you want to make a smaller batch with a kit can? If so then yes you can skip the dex. Why don't you please post the recipe. What is in the ingredients?

...If you use that can then the hoppiness will be greater making for a different style beer. I imagine you could make a 2.5 gallon batch that would be o.k. though.I think the can is around 4 lbs so it would work on it's own as far as the malt goes.

You could definitely do something like that. But I'd suggest leaving out the dextrose entirely, and then using more than half of the extract.

How much extract do you have? A 3.3 pound can? Or a different amount? If it's 3.3 pounds (1.7 Kg), that's enough to make 2.5 gallons (9.5 liters). Otherwise, you're short on extract anyway.

You'd dissolve the extract in the some water, and forgot about the corn sugar. Then, top up to 9.5 liters.

The only issue I can think of is that it's "prehopped" extract, so it may be a little more bitter than initially intended. Does it have the number of bittering units on the side of the can? It should list the IBUs/EBUs total in the can.

I'd say you will finish the half batch and kick yourself for not going the full mile. Just make the entire batch and give some away if you can't get it all down... I can send you my address. :p

Let's say 5G is 50 12 oz beers. Drink 2 per day (a good recommended amount of alcohol for good health) for a month and you are out. I don't see the problem. Make the whole batch and enjoy it slowly over time.
