Hello everyone
I've just started using a Pill, and not so long ago started using Brewfather.

My question concerns the green percentage scale/bar at the top of the fermentation graph? What is it measuring? I can't see that it corresponds to anything. It doesn't seem to be percentage of predicted ABV achieved, or of predicted reduction in gravity, or the percentage of time passed.

Like in this image here, the green bar showing 57%

With all the numbers in the lower right showing Plaato Airlock, and the Logo in the top left being the logo for Plaato , are you certain this graph is with data from your raptPill? Even if the numbers are from the raptPill, perhaps the answer to your question lies with Plaato and what numbers they show for their stuff.

RaptPills usually have battery percentage on their graphs or part of the data. So that is the one thing I don't see on that graph. But if you put your pill in the FV as shipped new without charging fully, then 57% might be the battery charge.

If the time and date are correct for that graph, then it's probably ready to bottle or keg. I'm assuming this is beer since you are in the Home Brewing Beer section.

Thanks for your reply hotbeer.

You're right that the graph shows data for the plaato, but that's an example I took of the Internet as an example of what I mean because for one reason or another, I couldn't get a picture off my phone and into the post on my tablet - the last update to Brewfather broke it on my tablet so it won't start.

However, it isn't battery level. In my current brew, the RAPT app gives the battery level, as well as attenuation, SG and various other things but none correspond to the green bar.

In any case, the green bar starts at zero and increases so it can't be battery level which generally stays at 100%for a long time, certainly for the full brew.

A good idea though!

My only other thought is that BrewFather might let you say how many days the beer is suppose to ferment for or some other parameter to go by. And that is telling you the percentage complete that is. Perhaps the default if not set is just 100%.

What is your graph actually showing for that bar at the top?

BrewFather's docs don't explain any of it either. Do they answer support questions? This might be one for them. Though there are some or many here that use BrewFather. Maybe they'll see your question and add something useful in a little bit.

Hi hotbeer
I did think it was something to do with expected ferment time, but it never seems to tally, at any stage of fermentation.

My present brew shows 91%. When SG had been static for a few days I crashed it.
OG= 1.059
attenuation = 67%
SG = 1.019
Abv = 5.3%

From Brewfather recipe prediction
Yeast attenuation =81%
Estimated FG =1.016
Apprarent attenuation 72.8%
Abv =5.9%

So I'm a little low on expected values.

After crashing, I took it out of the fridge and left it for 2 days as I didn't have time to bottle. The bar didn't change.

The pill is now in water in the fridge at 4 degrees C. The green bar says 0%. The SG =1.000 (little bit of fluctuation) attenuation =0% and obviously abv = 0% this suggests the percentage is related to fermentation performance.

Looking at the figures for the brew
Ratio of est fg/OG = 96%
Ratio of actual /est abv = 90%
Ratio attenuation /apparent attenuation = 92%

So, playing with the figures, I can't see where 91% off anything comes from.

I've emailed support but had no reply, which is a shame because it should be a simple question to answer.

I'm sure plenty of Brewers have an integrated device of some kind with Brewfather so I'm sure someone knows.

And I thought there were more than just several here that use Brewfather.

Surprised your thread hasn't attracted their attention.

I just use the raptPill cloud app to see what's happening. Though it's a tad buggy even today. And I use a very out of date and unsupported Brewtarget software that also has it's share of bugs.

It is the percent done relative to OG and FG. I have been using brewfather for a long time with ispindels and you can see this is the case in both the pictures you grabbed from the web.
