Time to renew the registration on my car. I was thinking of maybe getting some form of my brewery name on the license plate. I can't decide if it's a really cool or really cheesy idea.

Thoughts? Has anyone done this? Regrets?

I had a golf clubmaking business for years and had my license plate reflect that fact. It's just another form of promotion or advertising, and if you can make the name on the plate accurately reflect your brewery's name, I'd say go for it.

I should qualify the question to note that it's a homebrewery...

Well, that changes everything.

No, really it doesn't.

Do you have any bumper stickers? A vanity plate isn't any different--it just doesn't peel off. If your home brewery has a catchy name you can duplicate on the license plate, then go for it. It'll be a conversation starter.

BTW, even though the golf clubmaking business is no more, I still have that plate on my car. I've mused about changing it and others have told me not to do that--they recognize the plate and can tell it's me.

You have, however, started me thinking about changing that plate....to something beer-related. :)

EDITED TO ADD: I think I've got a new license plate idea: RDWHAHB

Might want to jump on that quick. Lots of members here have that one.

Here's mine:

My son has our last name on his, I guess he just wanted it. Personalized plates here in Texas are I think around 150.00 more for registration fee. Ouch!

over 2 years with these on my back windows, absolutely no problems with unnecessary attention from LEOs

must be intimidated by the Combat Sonar Tech creds

(RDWHAHB already taken in VA)

IMO.Could be a flag for the police to pay more attention to you. Same with brewery stickers on the back.

Big supporter of LEO's and 1st responders in general. Never been hassled as I'm a big square and don't break the law (other than speeding from time to time).

If you're concerned about being pulled over (and blowing over 0.08), you shouldnt be driving anyway.

If you want to get hassled by cops, attach a sticker that reads "Bad Cop, No Donut." I see those on cars and just facepalm.

I doubt homebrewing-related plates and stickers will draw any extra scrutiny from the police. If they pull you over it will be because of something you did.

I've never been stopped, not even for speeding, with my plate.

I don't drink and drive and wouldn't expect to be stopped unless I was speeding or had a broken light or something.

In Minnesota, certain DWI offenses will result in plate impoundment--having your plates replaced with "whiskey plates," so-called as they have a "W" prefix. With black text on a white background, the plates really stand out. By law, the mere presence of those plates is not per se probable cause for law enforcement to stop you. However, you can bet that LEOs will watch you like a hawk and if you so much as cross a center line or forget to signal a lane change...

That yours or Billy-Klubb's plate?

That yours or Billy-Klubb's plate?

Nope, that's a scarlet letter I don't ever want to get. I can't speak for Billy-Klubb. I'm sure he will pop in here to deny everything. ;)

Fun fact: They not only slap those plates on the car the DWI offender was driving at the time of the offense, they can also put them on any other vehicle registered to the offender. So the whole family gets to drive around with whiskey plates.

Just got a new vehicle and received the plates and registration from the dealer yesterday. Been thinking of ideas for custom plate. Thinking this right now.

Georgia is initial fee of $90 ($35 one-time manufacturing fee) and $55/year renewal fee. Regular "ad-velorem" taxes apply as always. I might actually get a "vanity" plate. :)
