I'm in the low country of South Carolina and the nearest LHBS leaves a lot to be desired. Brewers in the south/southeast, is there a preferred online retailer that gets you your ingredients to you fresh and in a timely manner?

Hello friend, I am in Darlington SC. Like you, I have some distance to travel to get to ANY LHBS, much less a really good one. I make a list and make a monthly run to Alternative Beverage outside of Charlotte in Belmont, NC. They have great prices (I buy bulk), yeast and hops are fresh, plus the selection is huge. They have one whole huge section of every kind of bulk grain you can ask for.

I am hesitant to order liquid yeast anytime of the year due to our temps in SC. Shipping adds to the price of two sacks of 2 row more than the price of one sack of grain, so the 2 hour drive is pretty well worth it for me.

Not sure exactly where you are, but look up the place I mentioned (they are in a huge old cotton warehouse) and have everything you can dream of.

If not convenient, MoreBeer has a warehouse in PA and they are pretty good too. I use them a lot as well.

Rebel Brewer is out to TN and ships almost same day.. They are good with great customer service

Unfortunately they are closing down; what little inventory left is 60% off. They are planning on still selling large equipment like Blichman, Grainfather but they are getting out of the ingredient business.

I am in lowcountry also. There are 2 different stores locally. Both of which I found pretty decent with a knowledgeable staff. I buy all my ingredients from them.

I should have specified, I'm in Bluffton near Hilton Head. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

I'm in SW FL, and I order a lot of dry ingredients from MoreBeer, but I'm loathe to order liquid yeast because of the temperature during shipping. A lot of guys in my club ferment with only dry yeast, and seem to like it. I buy my yeast at a LHBS an hour away from me, because that's my best option.

Are there no good shops near Savannah?

I buy my hops and yeast online (West Coast) but get my grain from the local brewpub. Maybe you can make friends with the brewer at Southern Barrel? Also Brew Abbey and Savannah Homebrew both seem to get good reviews online.

For online purchases I always use Morebeer.com. Always great service and speedy delivery.

I used to have a great LHBS in Brewmasters Warehouse here in Atlanta, but then it seriously went downhill and eventually out of business. I used Schoolhouse for a while, but I had a few instances where my online order didn't get filled correctly or turned out they were out of stock when I went to pick the order up, so couldn't find them reliable enough. I've used Rebel Brewer too since they were 'close', had a wide selection and I'd often get my order the next day, but now I use a LHBS called Brew Depot, or is it Beer Necessities, they use both names! Their website is unfortunately pretty awful and pretty unrepresentative of their actual stock, but they have pretty much everything I need whenever I go in there and the guys there are really helpful.
