How is an 8 month transaction that is supposed to take 2 months ever made right? I'd demand interest on the price paid for 6 months at a bare minimum. Even if you do post that you eventually got everything you paid for, there's no accounting for the time and frustration you had to go through.

I agree! It's 100% unacceptable and borders on fraudulent business practices.

Buyer Beware when dealing with http://www.brewersequipment.com/ as they have taken customers money and not delivered products as promised in the promised time frame.

I'd be invoicing them compounded interest at 21.9% interest for the 6 months (yes ,that is a high rate, but that's what poor credit risks get and based on past customer performance, http://www.brewersequipment.com/ deserves that rate).

I believe you can go as high as 29.9%... :D

Guys, I appreciate all the advice and support. I really do! This is really uncharted territory for me, I've been very fortunate in purchases up till now. I have all my ducks in a row for getting my money back, and attacking this guy.

Marcus sent me an email this morning, claiming he's got a new job and been away at training. He and his wife are pooling together money to finish the existing orders he has and then Brewers Equipment will be no more. The funny thing is if you go to his website right now, there seems to be about 35 different kinds of stands available with this written underneath.

"In stock special. Ready for immediate shipment.Stainless steel brew stand. These have the standard 4" burners, but are not built to accept banjo burners. Mounts included are 2 pumps mounts and 1 chiller mount. "

He has asked me for 10-14 more days to get the money to finish the work needed on my stand, yet he has written here IMMEDIATE SHIPMENT.

My question to you guys is, do you think he's in the process of claiming bankruptcy and he's stalling me, so he doesn't have to pay back anything? I'm thinking even if he claims chapter 13, or 7, I should still get my refund.

Thoughts, prayers??

Should I be running to my bank right now?

God I wish I was talking about brewing right now, instead of this BS.

All who have gotten previous stands from Brewers Equipment and are happy thank your lucky stars!! All who are currently thinking of doing business with him....DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!

I think we have found his problem. His stands are under priced and he's been using the money from the sales on things not business related. Thus he's having to "pool his money" to get the stands built. It may have worked "ok" in the beginning but the more he sold the deeper his "pool" has to become.

I would bail and get my money back ASAP. He's going down and going fast.

It appears he fed you a load of **** repeatedly for months why would he change now? Id have filed the charge back a long time ago.

Speaking from someone that once worked in Loss Prevention, get the hell out while you have a chance. At least it sounds like he's being half honest now. He was just kiting money around, floating one persons cash to pay for another's stand until he got in too deep it sounds like.

You need to get your money back NOW. Forget his stupid stand. Get the money back and move on.

I agree man
Do everything you can today or yesterday to get all your money back otherwise it may get pretty ugly.

This whole thing is like a bad car accident. You can't look away but every time you do look, you feel horrible for the folks impacted by the mess. It's bad enough when you lose a hundred or two on kegging gear or small parts but it's made especially worse due to the high cost of this one transaction. I knew it had to be too good to be true with those prices. Marcus may very well be a nice guy way way in over his head and that would be unfortunate, but what happened here is just going to make it that much harder for a startup in this area to be trusted. That's unfortunate because brew stands are still pretty hard to come by and I'm sure a lot of folks are plenty eager to buy one ready to go. There is B3 and Sabco, but let's face it, they are out of the reach of many brewers.
The good thing is this community can communicate transactions gone wrong quickly enough to save many others from the same fate.

Ugh, I hate to come across this message now. I'm in a similar situation - talked to Marcus for weeks about exactly what I wanted, finally paid for mine in early June. Its been the same thing since then - horrible communication, every time we do talk it's 'going to be finished this weekend'. I even sent him my BCS controller that I had bought myself so that he could flash the firmware with a custom one from BCS. Stupid on my part, I'm already counting that as completely lost.

I'm going to file with the Texas AG, BBB and my bank. I paid through PayPal but their buyer protection only lasts for 45 days after purchase. So I'm going to start a claim with my bank and see how far that gets me. Any suggestions from other people who are dealing with their banks right now?

I for one would not flame him
But Marcus should really come on here and set everyone straight and do the right thing and make every transaction right. I'm just surprised I actually got something from him. I've been keeping up with this thread and throwing my 2 cents in just because I feel terrible for all of you that anybody had to go thru this ****.

Don't buy from Brewer's Equipment!

I paid for a brew stand in August that was supposed to be already assembled and ready to go. He strung me until now with excuses about UPS and ordering small parts until now. After two months I still haven't received my stand and when I asked for my money back I was told sorry for the trouble, contact your credit card company.

I don't know what his issues have been, but I paid in full for a stand, never received it despite numerous attempts to contact him and work it out, and when I finally asked for my money back I was basically told to stuff it.

Marcus Glover you owe me a lot of money!

Sincerely,

Nathan Berkley

Look around buddy, you're not the only one... Start fighting with the bank to get your money back. I fear that Old Marcus is going down and taking other peoples money with him.

I am sorry to hear about that Nathan. Give me a shout and I might be able to get you hooked up with a stand. One of the guys at our last group buy get together said he welds and would be willing to do some builds as long as he makes a little something off of it. By the way do you need any hops?

How many bad reviews before a vendor get's their privileges revoked? This guy seems to be a cancer.

I don't think Brewer's Equipment is a paying vendor on HBT so I'm not sure what privileges should be revoked. Seems to me the 'company reviews' forum here is doing a pretty good job of spreading info about him.

You've notified the BBB and your state's attorney general/consumer protection office, right?

Hate to say this, but the warning signs have been with that guy/company for most of the time he posted here. Late shipments, poorly packed stands with breakage - good vendors just don't do that kind of stuff.

I noticed he's pulled all photos from his post's, but he has a nice website to sell from. You'd have to be nuts to buy from him. He still has a premium account at least, he needs to be banned imo.

I'm OK for now for hops. I've been waiting on this fictional stand for a while so I haven't been brewing. What a mess.

Thats why I buy everything through a credit card. At the very least, they are good about refunding your money, and then letting them chase getting their money back. Lots of reasons to complain about CC companies, but this is the reason I'm OK with them. (But I've gotten like 8 charges refunded...once because the Spearmint Rhino in Vegas tried to double charge me. Just because I couldn't see doesn't mean they need to charge me twice!)

Good luck getting your $$ back, and thanks for letting others know to stay away.

hate to play devils advocate, but I purchased a stand from him and recieved it in a timely matter. probly about 1 year ago is when I purchased. the frame is quality and haven't had any issues with it. I'm certainly not going to steer somebody towards a bad business, but I'm surprised to hear such bad reviews about this person. am I just part of the minority that did recieve good service from this individual?

Not trying to pile on; my story had a happy ending.

Ordered late March.

Asked for a status update in early July and was told it would ship in a week.

Asked for another status update about 3 weeks later and then things started getting weird: long periods without contact, UPS tracking numbers that never showed up on their system, etc.

I grew a little more impatient and wary but I eventually received the stand in the middle of August. Two of the natural gas burners had broken jets but he sent replacements without any hassle.

I got what I paid for but there was a period of time when I doubted that I would.

I'm sure that he was delivering stands to people in the past. That's why I was willing to pay him for this stand. However, that doesn't seem to be true any longer. It looks like I'm not alone after hunting around this board in the past week. I don't know what's happened to him, but recent customers seem to be getting ripped off.

I'm just offering up my own experience so people can know before they make a decision about buying from him.

If he would have delivered the stand I'd be the first to say thanks and give a positive review. In fact, if he would have given me a refund after two months of delays and excuses I wouldn't be writing about him like this on the internet. The killer is that after all of this he will not return my money and now will not respond to phone calls or emails.
