Alright...
I got the True Brew homebrew kit for Christmas along with a Hophead IPA recipe kit. I have been chomping at the bit ever since. I read many many threads here as well as "How to Brew" by John Palmer online and finally found a day with several hours to myself. What a blast!! My 1st batch is now in the primary bucket after hitting my target OG dead on (hoping that means I didn't screw anything up). I can't wait til bottling day so I can free up my primary for my 2nd batch (not sure what it will be yet).

I think I'm hooked!!

Congrats! Now while you are waiting you have time to figure out your recipe for the next brew. And all the extra stuff you want to buy.

Oh, and did I mention that the house smells like a brewery?! Even my wife is enjoying all the smells.

quite word of wisdom...dont hurry it take ur gravity readings to make sure it is done fermenting before moving or bottling. and dont drink it to early either....i had problems with both of those when i started.

It's not hooked, its obsessed! There is a difference as you will find out... Being hooked better appplies to being grasped by something that you'd rather not be involved in. Obsessed is more of a love affair; one that will consume your thought life and conversation through out the day. Only homebrewers get it though, as you will find out. When everyone else doesn't want to hear it anymore, you have lots of like minded obsessive friends here who care. :)

Neither could I. I am a big fan of hoppy beers and wanted a username to reflect that. Most of what I could think of was taken so I-Hop it was.

Why wait 'till bottling day?? Buy another primary and off you go!

I bought a starter kit and put it on and within 2 days, I couldn't stand the wait and bought another primary.

A week afterwards, I still couldn't stand the wait, so bought another starter kit and started making wine as well.

Now, I can see another primary in my future, as I still can't stand the waiting. The good news for instant-gratification people is that the pipeline grows very quickly!

agreed nakros

i've got my 3rd batch in primary now and i think i'm gonna go raid my father's old equipment and steal another primary, lol
