I'm playing around with Brewcipher while making a recipe. I put in 9lb of pilsner malt and the strike volume is 7.92 gal. If I then add 0.5 lb of sucrose to the grain/fermentable list, the strike water goes down to 7.88 gal.
Why would adding sucrose cause the strike volume to decrease? Does it have to do with adjusting the strike volume lower to account for the sugar volume in order to reach the defined volume into the fermenter? I think I may have just answered my own question as I'm typing this but would be good to have confirmation.
