Hi,

First, thanks to everyone who take part in this forum. It has been a great ressource over the years to answer many many questions I have had... But now I have a question I do not seem to find the answer...

I just bought a SS brewbucket. Love it so far, with the racking arm, etc. My main question is linked to how do I go from there.

Previously, I always fermented in a plastic bucket, rack the beer in a carboy, then when I was ready to bottle, syphon it back into the bucket, add priming sugar and bottle... I know, many steps... too many in fact. kegging is not an option for me as I don't have the beer fridge space, etc.

So with my brewbucket, I was thinking I could skip the racking in the carboy, and only have to put my beer in a bucket in order to add priming sugar, followed by bottling. Does that make sense? Could I even add the priming sugar in the brewbucket and just bottle straight from it?

What are your thoughts? I brewed yesterday and would love an answer before next weekend...

Cheers

I think most would argue that racking to any vessel other than your bottling bucket is unnecessary and introduces more oxygen.

Rack directly to bottling bucket with priming sugar and proceed.

Ok. That's what I thought... If I want to rack directly to bottles, when and how do I add my priming sugar?

Thanks for the information. It confirms what I thought.

If you rack from the brew bucket you'll need to add priming sugar and it may need to be stirred. That might stir up the sediment. I also have a brew bucket but still use a bottling bucket when filling bottles.

Adding measured amounts of sugar directly to the bottles or carb drops or Dominos Dots mini sugar cubes is what many people do, which would allow you to bottle directly from the bucket.
