Just wondering how most of you brew.

Do you typically brew a new recipe every time you brew or do you instead have a few favorite recipes that you brew over and over trying to perfect?

:mug:

Usually new recipe but I have done several back to back. Unfortunately not brewing often enough to dial in a single recipe or style. Still get to hone in the basic technique while experimenting across styles. At some point I am sure I will start repeating my favorites.

A little of each now that I keep a pipeline and don't buy beer. I also do a lot of small variations, like using a similar grain bill but trying different hop varieties.

So far each new recipe has been new, but after tasting the gravity sample of my current Pale, this one is worth tweaking until it's perfect.

I'm brewing new until I find what I want to brew over. I'm looking for something like 4 recipes to constantly brew and perfect.

I have a few brews that I really like and brew them to keep some in stock. I then brew a lot of new and different recipes.

I like making recipes so I am always trying something different in search of the next best brew. It can be a totally different recipe or a variation of something that I have brewed before. The great thing about this hobby is that you can brew beers that YOU like.

Great feed back so far. Seems like about 80% of the time people are brewing new recipes.

all new, all the time (at least so far). i've brewed some stuff that turned out amazing that i'd be willing to brew again... but i'm too ADD and i'd rather take a chance on something new than do something i've already done. i wouldn't be surprised if someday i someday i decide to re-brew.

Always new recipes made from scratch. It is so ridiculously rewarding to create your own recipe, brew it and have it turn out exceeding your expectations. Of course that one or two times when it doesn't turn out you get all depressed, but beer solves all problems.

About 60/40. There are a few recipies where I think I am on to something good but I'm not quite there yet (a higher abv hoppy wheat with citra/sorachi/amarillo and a 5% that tastes like an IPA). The rest of the time I just want to try something different.

I feel like if I don't do a few things over and over again I'll never really learn what in my pipeline improves or degrades a beer nor will I ever make a really great beer.

I have a couple I brew to have them on hand, as they are popular with everyone, but other than those few, I always do new recipes.

I'm brand new at homebrewing... my next brew will be my second ever. It should come as no surprise that I'll be making different and new recipes for a while. I want to try a variety of different styles. I'll be taking notes and tracking successes and failures. At some point I'm sure I'll repeat favorites, but for the foreseeable future, every brew is likely to be different than the previous ones.

Both, there are some standard recipes that took me about a year to perfect and that I now brew repeatedly as standard house brew. These are Oatmeal Stout, Pale Ale, Centennial IPA, Brown Ale. I am currently developing other recipes --- Black Ale, an English Porter and a Dry Stout takes 5 to six brews to really dial in a recipe to where I think it is good enough. Then I have the experimental and seasonal brews like a Rye Pale Ale, a Scotch Ale, a Smoked Pumpkin Porter, Cranberry Christmas Ale. Then I have my specialty brews, a Cherry Wheat, Coriander and Cayenne Harvest Wheat, Amber Waves of Grain. I like to brew and brew when ever I can as often as I have fermenters open. Totally passionate about this I am.... the possibilities are just endless...

I've only done about 10-12 batches, and they've all been different. At some point I want to repeat something, but I haven't brewed up everything I want to try yet. I think I might repeat the BCS dark mild in the next couple of months.

I have a few styles that I love and therefore have brewed them over again. However, I love belgian wit and have made several different variations to find my prefect one. In the interest of perfecting a few beers that I love and friends and family love also.

I do 2-3 gallon batches of new recipes. When I find one I like, I scale it up and do a 5 or 6 gallon batch. That way I don't waste as much if I make something that isn't very good - which seems to happen more than I'd like to admit - but I have fun doing it!
