Can I use my android phone for this. The app loaded fine with no problems.
If the answer is no then what does the android tablets have on them that that android note 4 phone does not?

My understanding is no, but I could be wrong. Your best bet is to email Brew Boss and ask. They are very responsive and have great customer service.
