I cracked my first couple of bottles of my first batch. The first one was fantastic....great carbonation. However, the second one was flat....but tasted great. Did I just not get the bottle cap on correctly? The cap came off very easily, so I am pretty sure that I didn't get a good seal. I have one of those wing style cappers. Any tips to consistently cap with it?

how long have they been in the bottles? Sometimes they all do not carb up at the same pace.

Give them a full three weeks ( longer for high gravity brews) and a couple of day minimum in the fridge.

It could be a looser cap but I think more likely to be uneven warmth or perhaps not even mixing of priming sugar. The capper you are using do work quite well.

2 weeks in the bottle. The beer wasn't completely flat...just didn't have head or a fizz when opening the bottle.

You need to be around 70* F for a 2 week carb. You can be higher by a fair amount but you don't want to be lower than recommended fermentation temps. Even at the lower end you may need to add time. I go for 70* to 75* and if I hit 80* so be it. After carb I put them in cold storage.

At 2 weeks the possibility of uneven carb levels between bottles is pretty good. let them sit st 70 degrees for another week or more and they should all be fine.
