Hi guys,

I'm fairly new to brewing, I have made a few batches with a Mr Beer Kit a few years ago. I recently picked up the hobby again (this time with better equipment). I plan to start bottling my first bath tomorrow but I have a question first. Is it okay to store the bottles on their side?

I don't think it would hurt, but I also don't see the reason for it. It's not like wine, where you want to keep the cork wet. If you do store them sideways, you'll want to get them right-side up for a few days before pouring.

There's nothing particularly wrong with it, but I would not do that - you want the yeast sediment from bottle conditioning to settle and compact to the bottom so you can get a clean pour out of the bottle.

The reason is that I don't have much room it would be easier if I could store them on their sides. I realize though that some yeast would probably settle on the side and a couple of hours in the fridge might not settle it. I think I will give up space for a good beer.
