I'm getting ready to bottle and I had a question (2) about dissolved CO2 after fermentation. It is based on the temp is seems but I wondered if lagering changes the amount at all? Ive had it lagering for about 6 weeks thus far and now I'm ready to bottle.

Can someone explain why the temp of the beer impacts the carbonation? Is it the temp at bottling time, conditioning temp or drinking temp?

The calculator asks for temperature because there is more co2 dissolved in a liquid at cold temperatures.

When you use these calculators, don't use the current temperature of the beer, or the temperature it'll be get at after bottling. The reason is because neither actually reflect the probable amount of co2 currently in suspension.

I like to use fermentation temperature, or the highest temperature the beer was at while in the fermenter. What I mean is this- it's a lager. It fermented at 52 degrees, then was racked and lagered at 34 degrees. If I put 34 degrees into the calculator, it'll tell me to use like .7 ounces of priming sugar because the calculator assumes that more co2 is in suspension. If I put in 70 degrees, it'll tell me to use maybe 6 ounces of sugar. That would be ok, but a bit overcarbed. If I put in 52 degrees, it will actually be pretty close, even though I lowered the temperature on the beer after fermentation.
 
+1...... The colder the beer the more co2 it holds on to. You want to use the temp of the beer at the time it was last producing co2. If for some odd reason the beer was warmed up after fermentation, you'll want to use that warmer temp, as co2 will have escaped. Cooling it after fermentation has stopped doesn't add any co2, just keeps whatever was in solution there.
 
My concern about using this method is that if the beer has chilled to say 34F during lagering and is bottled at more less this temp will there not be expansion of the bottle contents if the bottle warms up resulting in higher pressure than intended ?
