I’m looking to start kegging. If I want to fill few bottles take somewhere. Can I just fill them from the tap? Or do I need to make a small amount of priming sugar and fill few before filling up the keg?

Yes, you can fill from the faucet (tap). Below is a how to video. You can buy an adapter for most faucets and eliminate the need to use the picnic tap assembly. Just the tubing, bottle filler and #2 stopper are needed with the adapter.

You can also purchase and fill a growler if you don't want to mess with bottling. You can get growlers in many portable sizes that accept co2 cartridges to aid in serving and keep carbonation at the proper levels. A more elegant solution IMHO.
