Bottle capper question INART

Hi guys! Total newbie here, and since I got half of my brewing equipment from my dad, including old bottle capper, I was wondering if anyone knows is there any difference between mine INART bottle capper and new "designs" sold in markets today.

I have old INART bottle capper, and it has a wing screw on top of it. Does that adjust something, or is it just for keeping my capper in one piece?

Any thoughts should I use this or just buy a new one? Cheers!

Looks like the same basic design as any plastic hand capper.
But yours looks more sturdy and adjustable. Not the pieces of crap they sell today.

Keep it. Use it. Show it off. I wish THAT was my first hand capper. I've gone through 3 since I started because they keep breaking. I finally got a bench top capper.

I have the same one I got from an old timer with some other old home brew equiptment I repurposed and restored. Had some rust I cleaned up on it. From my expirence I like the new guys better. I got it to work but sticks on some bottles and if you grab it in the wrong spot to remove it can pinch down on your hand or fingers and put you in a world of pain. Think the one I have was well used though and I did an acid treatment to get rid of the rust so dunno if that effected it’s working ability or causes the issues or if it could be the particular bottles I’m using. Also noticed more variables with it. You have to keep even force on both sides of the handle to get a good cap. Let me know if you have used it with success. Know this post has been up for awhile so assume you have used it. My recomendation would be a bench capper if you’re looking for a good all around capper. Though I have a newer wing capper that works great. As for the old one I have it is going in the antique display in my speak easy as a momento of the pain it’s caused when trying to use.
