Hey All,

I recently made my first Cider... I am a little concerned about bottle bombs.

I did a stove top pasturazation after 5 days, but while I was pasteurizing a bottle exploded in the pot (foolishly left the burner on to reheat the water halfway through), I freaked out and took the bottles that were in the pot out. After I calmed down I finished normally. I am a little worried that a few of the bottles now are not fully pasteurized.

It has been 8 days since I bottled, is there still a possibility of a bottle bomb? Or do you think it would have happened already?

Thanks for the help.

Cheers,
Saul

Pop one open (carefully) and see if it's over carbonated. If not, you're probably okay. Better pop another one open to be sure. You know, be thorough.

Oops - I misread your question. Did you put those couple bottles off to the side or somehow identify them?

Hm. All of the priming sugar would have been used up by now, assuming room temperature. You're probably okay, but If it were me, I'd probably store in a covered plastic tote and handle them very carefully when putting them in the fridge and when opening them.
