I only chose those two because they seemed really obvious.

Unless there's another spot that I'm missing (Treehouse, Trillium, Night Shift breweries are not in the cards)...
Trillium isn't in the cards? It's like a mile away from the venue where Kraftek is playing. Also Kraftek is an excellent live show.

Well, the idea was to keep it as quick/simple/painless as possible. En route is the best option.

Also, we're staying in Brookline, so I'm really not fond of the idea of going from there to Trillium back to Brookline to drop off bottles and back up to the Wang. I wish I could though. Would've been second on my list.

Also, who is Kraftek???

Fair enough. And ****, definitely meant Kraftwerk, mixed it up with the record label: http://www.kraftekmusic.com/

Staying a few blocks from trillium and just cabbing it around the city for the weekend. Any good whiskey/cocktail bars or craft beer bars within walking distance anyone can recommend?

And any place I might be able to find good whiskey in a store? Chicago blows and everythibg is allocated. PM me and I can send some thank you beers for some tips! Thanks

Drink is right next to Trillium. It's a cocktail bar. Not sure about Whiskey stores.

Definitely Row 34 for beer, which is right next to Trillium. Another good bar for both beer and whiskey is Stoddard's which is about a 15 min walk from where you're staying.

Can't give you any tips for whiskey stores...my whiskey game is weak. I never come across anything that interesting.

Haven't been there yet but Committee is getting some decent press and is supposed to have some quality cocktails.

I second Stoddards, they mix a solid cocktail and have a great whiskey selection. And if you like overpaying for your drinks head up to the Top of the Hub for a damn good dirty martini. I'm also a fan of Bostonia Public House on weekend nights, you can get decent food and music while watching the townies fighting in the street out the window.

Not many solid whiskey stores downtown. Federal Wine and Spirits is alright and Boston Wine Exchange (BWX) is right down the street if you're looking for some higher end bottles. You most likely won't find anything hyped downtown, though.

Looks like Revolution is increasing MA distro starting next month.

Be sure to grab some Fistmas cans if they send them. Good ****.

Is it any good though? I had W00t stout this weekend, and thats all it was...booze.

It was weird, I had one in the can and it was straight booze and I had one poured into a glass and thought it was pretty decent. Still really strong but much better when you let it breathe a little. I'd get another 6er just for the convenience of a quick buzz.

I'll be coming up to Massachusetts relatively soon, and I'm looking for a good suburb to stay in for a night. I plan on hitting Tree House and Jack's Abby on a Thursday, so perhaps a town near Jack's Abby that has a good craft beer scene. I thought about Worcester (for Armsby Abbey), any other suggestions?

Thanks in advanced.

Do you have a car?

Where do you stay in the suburbs? Why do you want to stay in the suburbs?

I'm not sure I've ever heard of anyone really dying to stay in Natick, but there's probably a Holiday Inn or something there. It's the town next to Jack's Abby. It has a mall and a DMV location. There are probably hotels, too.

Worcester is kind of in between. You'd go east to get to JA, then you'd go west to get to Tree House. Play with Google Maps a bit more. MA is much longer east-west than you'd think. I'd probably stay in Amherst and hit Western MA or I'd stay in Cambridge and drive to JA the next day.

There are a couple hotels in Worcester that are within walking distance of Armsby Abbey. I've stayed at that Holiday Inn Express and it's pretty cheap and decent for it's location. Easy to walk to Armsby and in a good location to GTFO of Worcester to travel west or east.

Yes.

Ok, I'm looking to avoid staying in the city center due to hotel costs/parking/etc., I'll check out those areas.
How long are you staying? Is this for work or just for fun? Are you here for beer or for other stuff and some beer?
Thursday until Saturday morning, for fun. This is also why I may be sounding a bit broad, because I am open to something new, not in Boston (or at least the heart of it)

Yes.

You could stay in Worcester and sort of split the difference if you're just looking to pick up beer. It's about half way between Boston and Tree House, plus it's got Armsby and Wormtown.

The reason I ask about fun or beer is cause if you're here that long, you're not going to want to stay in Worcester, as you'll run out of stuff to do.

I say look at a hotel out on the Pike somewhere in Framingham. That way you're close enough to hit up Worcester for Armsby and you can also go to TH, and Boston isn't far away. You can also get into town on a commuter rail if you want to get your drink on and do other seasonal stuff too. You could also look at the end of the D line which is out by 95. Closer to the city than Framingham but you'll have access to the T and not have to worry about the crappy commuter rail schedule.

getting to Trillium is better if you take public transportation. Night Shift is better by car.
