CBC was packed to the walls last night.
Went to State Park for the first time too and that place was really good. Great food and drink list. All the old timey ****** beer is like $4.
Do they really have 'loons on the menu?
What weird prices. $17 for Dupont and $16 for Cantillon. Breakfast stout for $11 but Stillwater Classique for $7.50?
How big are the Mini-Pitchers? I like the idea of pitchers of Hoponius and Old Brown Dog.
It seems like every place that opens these days has Classic bottles (what I am assuming "Cantillon" with no more info means) for a little while right when they open. I am less than impressed by a place pulling out 375 mL bottles of Classic for $16 as their big gun to try to draw people. Last time I bought a bottle of classic in a bar, like 2 years ago, it was for like twelve bucks at Hobo, which is not exactly normally the cheapest place in the world to buy bottles. I'd rather drink Tilquin anyway.
I assume the mini-pitchers are about 32 oz, which would correspond with the pricing.
I would really only be impressed if they had enough of a cache of it so that it lasts. I agree on bottles of Classic being the initial draw for new places.
I'm still a little perplexed by the selection. They a bunch of cheap, macro crap, 4(?) drafts of meh-to-great beer, but not anything too interesting, and then some over-priced Belgians, including Classic. Why not a few better hoppy offerings on draft? Or a saison or two.
What's with the macro, too? The mini Bud cans and shot-and-beer combos seem to indicate that this is an irony thing, but I'm just a little confused. Maybe they'll settle into it.
Also asked about the mini-pitcher because they sell pints. If the mini-pitcher is 32oz, as I figured, too, then there is no advantage to ordering the mini-pitcher over two pints except that you get to pour it yourself (or three people can have less than a pint, I guess). Good for them for having Old Brown Dog, though. I love that beer.
Anyone know what's good with the new Trillium IPA, Sleeper Street? They didn't seem to announce it or make any sort of mention, but I saw it on their site today.
I'm going to tomorrow, so I'll grab a growler unless anyone can definitively tell me that it's not worth it in light of the brilliance of Congress Street.
EDIT: I think GF is going this afternoon. If she grabs it, I'll report back.
Congress St. IPA recipe with El Dorado instead of Galaxy. Galaxy in short supply until new harvest, apparently.
The Sleeper Street is with El Dorado? She'll pick up something as long as the weather is ok. We're going tomorrow anyways.
When the hell is more Lineage Rye coming out?
Yes, that description is what Sleeper St. is. Sorry that wasn't clear. Website has Lineage Rye in the on deck list.
Also had 2 nights ago, Enjoyable not as good as I was hoping I guessHad Sleeper St yesterday. Was a solid IPA. Hoppy and drinkable
