When I was transferring my zombie dust clone from boil kettle to carboy. I had the bright idea I was gonna filter the hops out with a knee sock panty hose. Well as you well know it swelled up in side the neck. When I tried to pull it out the sock broke and all the hops from the boil went in the carboy. I left it and pitched the yeast. After 10 days transfered to secondary let sit for 3 weeks then dry hopped 3 oz for 5 days. Kegged it. Carbed it. And it tastes like crap. Would the boil hops going in the fermenter be the cause?? Fermentation was kept between 65 and 70. S-05

Kinda like stale. It tasted OK at first then after a few days it started a stale taste. Not sure if it's the cardboard taste I hear a boat.

Trub which includes hops should not have had that effect. I would tend to think it was your process. Either sanitation/oxidation while dealing with the sock or during transfer to secondary maybe.

When you tried it was the beer clear?

If it hasn't been disturbed for a while run off about 3 pints and then taste it.
