Been busy with life, finally brewed a batch in my new electric system. However, boiled it to hard and boiled off 2 gallons instead of 1.

Curious what you all set your temp at for boiling, or is it one of those just mess around a few times to figure it out?

I set my Boil temp to 220 and adjust the power level to 63% after boil is reached, this keeps a good rolling boil going for me.

Boiling temp is determined by local atmospheric pressure, but will always be 212°F (100°C) or slightly less at higher altitudes. To control boil off rate, you must control the heat input to the kettle. More heat = more boil off. If you are using a PID to control an electric element, then you want to put it into manual mode, and set the fractional power to give you the boil level you want. You cannot use a PID to control boil vigor using automatic, set-point mode.

Brew on :mug:

What this guy said...also I set mine to 220 just to be safe...I know it doesn't matter after 212 but I like to make sure I have good rolling boil.

Tell us exactly what controller you have.

So the controller is OMRON E5CC PID Controller.

I will be honest. This was a test run to try out the system in general. I didn't have time to read the 20 pages that came with the controller itself just yet and just did some tests on warming the water, testing the panel itself. Will have to research setting the power output. It did turn on and off quite a bit throughout also.
