Hi all.

I was wondering which if any of the brewhardware's electrical enclosures for heating elements will work with the 1" welding spud? Would I need tape and a gasket/o-ring?

Why don't you contact him directly? From what I have seen he is great at customer service and would gladly answer any of your questions. He is frequently answering questions on HBT also.

I have the tri clamp solder version and love it. If you already have the 1" weld spud, go with Option 4. You will still need a o-ring.

Here's the scoop on spuds and enclosures..

Normaly your oring seal goes between the element hex and the face of the spud. When you insert the extra layer of the enclosure, now your oring is either staying on the spud side or the element hex side and that will leak. Now, you might say, hey, how about two orings with the enclosure sandwiched between. Sure, but the problem is that you now have isolated the ground lug on the enclosure from the kettle. If you make the seal by putting teflon tape on the element threads and leave the gaskets off completely, you can use the EWL1 enclosure.

Last option is to solder the enclosure cap directly to the face of the spud so the seal is now make directly on the enclosure.

Thanks for the responses. I already have the 1" spud installed. I think I will try the tape first. I'm not too confident in my ability to solder the end to the spud.

Anyone here have any experience with brewpi element kits? If so what's the quality like? Are they worth buying?

I do have one of Bobby ms hot pod element enclosures and it really does a good job for me on the element thats permanently mounted in my HLT.

Did you happen to see this one that I linked in your other thread. Its just another option. many use the ones like this from stilldragon
