Blowoff Tubes: a Haiku

I woke to much foam
The Airlock was long since gone
My girl was not glad

So i was a bit to busy to take pictures, but i woke this morning to foam seeping down the sides of my primary and a pretty decent puddle. Turns out I should read the directions. I was doing a festa brew kit, and they suggested using a 27L primary bucket. Me being the pro that I am disregarded the directions and figured 23L of wort means 23L primary. The results are outlined in my poem above.

My ghetto remedy, since I only have the one primary bucket, was to siphon about 2gallons into a carboy. So now I have 3 gallons in the primary bucket, 2 gallons in a carboy. Both have some airlock activity. Any chance i messed that up and have to scrap the batch? I'm hoping not.

I recently had a vicious Kolsch yeast. I had a lot of the same problem you are having. I cleaned it up and learned from my mistake.

all i use are blow off tubes for my brews, although i am using a 3 piece air lock for my apfelwien.

Thanks guys. For the piece of mind at least! It's been a while now and both seem to be fermenting along nicely. I can't see it being a problem, but I plan to rack both to a secondary and recombine. that shouldn't be an issue should it? Or would it be best to leave both alone until bottling time???

Actually, the last verse in a haiku is supposed to be a dramatic contrast to the first 2 verses. For example:

I started two batches yesterday in carboys, but I only have one full length blowoff tube, and about 1 foot of leftover tubing. I set up one blowoff tube as usual. I stuck the 1-foot length of tubing in the other carboy, covering the exterior end with cheesecloth. In the end, I'd rather have an infected batch than a disastrous explosion.

well what I figure alot fo the time when I do something deemed "sketchy" in terms of sanitization or air contamination or whatever. I figure "hey, they've been making beer for centuries, and we basically only found out about these sanitizers ect... in the last little while. My worst sanitizing job is still probably better then beers of the past, and those people arn't ALL dead."

Now that's within reason of course, I wouldn't deliberately do some things to corrupt the brew, but yeah, I try not to worry to much.
