Hey guys, after pitching my yeast for a California Common I had to leave it unattended for three days. On return I found that it had fermented through the airlock and is now settled. So... I quickly replaced the airlock and used star San on everything.. Am I looking at an infection?

Relax, it won't be the first time this happens. Just dont do what I did on my first batch, put the fermenter on your carpet.

Unless the airlock blew off and hit the ceiling, your beer is safe.

However, when an airlock fouls (completely blocks) it can explode a carboy / bucket. Good reason to invest in a blowoff tube and use it for all primaries.
