I've had my carboy going on 5 weeks now. After first day I had to replace airlock with blow off tube. No big deal. Should I have taken the blow off tube out after things settled down and put back in place the airlock?

If you are going to cold crash your beer then I would take the blow off tube out and replace it with the airlock due to suck back, otherwise, just leave the blow off tube in there.

No need to remove the blow off tube. Think of it as a giant airlock. :rockin:

This. If I do switch to an airlock from a blowoff tube, I like to do it while the blow off tube is still bubbling several times a minute. This way you know the postive pressure of the escaping c02 will prevent any chance of oxidation during the switch.

It's probably overly anal, but I just try to reduce the chance for oxidation whenever possible.
