I'm working on a Porter (kinda tweaking northern Brewers Bourbon barrel porter) and letting the Bourbon, oak cubes, vanilla bean, and handful of cracked coffee beans hang out in a Mason jar while the Porter ferments. The smell of the Bourbon concoction made me think of having a kind of leather aroma/flavor along with the Bourbon and coffee would be interesting. I just bottled a Belgian strong golden ale, and the aroma kind of reminds me of leather. Would experimenting with this and blending a Porter and strong golden ale be crazy? Have any of you tried any interesting blends?

I like knowing the history of beer and different styles and I didn't know that, thanks! I think I might try pouring a bottle of the strong golden in the bottling bucket with maybe 1/4th of the Porter left and see how it goes. I'll post the results of my experiment. Itll definitely be boozy.. My strong golden clocked in at a little over 10% which was more than I was expecting.
