So I just read that adding 1oz of finely crushed black malt at the end of the mash will help with chill haze and possible tannin bite. Has anyone ever tried this and by ``end of mash`` do they mean before Sparging?

That sounds like it would just extract the color out of the malt, to me. I did something like that to make a beer as dark as possible without roasted flavors.

I tried it years ago on several beers. Uncrushed grains. Didn't seem to do anything. Did not affect color or taste either.

Yeah i have just come to the conclusion that i will Use whirlfloc to reduce overall chill haze.
