That's an interesting theory DD2000GT, and I bet you're on to something. With low lake levels bacteria thrive more and they may have to treat the water more aggressively.

As for that RV filter, I notice that my IPA's taste crisper (more crisp??) than before, so it has some benefit, BUT it doesn't eliminate everything. It's an inexpensive filter to help remove SOME nasties from the water, but certainly not all. I've found that I benefit from this filter for the beers I make most often. For the lagers I do, I almost always build it from RO though.

I haven't noticed any differences in the Dallas water over the last year. But,
Garland and Dallas have different water sources and I can taste a big difference between the two. Maybe it's the different ways the water is processed. Garland gets its water from the North Texas Municipal Water District whose water comes from Lavon Lake, Jim Chapman Lake, Lake Texoma, Lake Tawakoni, and Lake Bonham. Dallas gets water from five lakes: Grapevine, Lewisville, Ray Roberts, Ray Hubbard and Tawakoni.
