Over the weekend. I brewed

http://beerrecipes.org/showrecipe.php?recipeid=1150

I started though. With 9 gals and ended up with 6.08 gals. Even with 1gal missing from this recipe. I ended up with a gravity of just 1.043 i know that BIAB has reduced efficency but my grains were ground and ground then ground. I cooled to 76 degrees F and pitched s-04. Does anyone have anu input and what i could expect in body or see obvious error that i simple dp not?

if that recipe was for 5gal of 1.053 wort you are right on target

per beersmith diluting 5gal of 1.053 wort would give you 1.044 @ 6gal

Side note; if id wanted to attain sutble vanilla notes would i dry "hop" with beans? Or boil in.. The boil?

underground and under the influence

Vanilla is vanilla thanks to all of its delicate aromatics. Boiling will completely get rid of them. I would toss in the vanilla in the primary or secondary if you're doing one. Vanilla beans are shipped huge distances and can get a little yeasty- you should split it down the middle and soak in just enough vodka to cover it for a few hours before tossing it in.
