Hey all,
My LHBS is expensive for hops. Is Nicobrew about the best place to buy hops? I'm looking to buy about a pound at a time.
Thanks!

farmhouse and yakima valley seem to have good pricing on larger amounts. reasonable shipping too.

+1 for both Farmhouse and Yakima Valley... well packaged, good prices and quick shipping. YV also include the harvest year on their packaging which helps when you have too many bags of hops in your freezer... ahem.

I always buy by the pound. I have a spreadsheet in Google docs where I track current prices for hops I use regularly. I prefer to buy from my LHBS and am willing to pay a little extra to help keep a good guy in business. I find that Farmhouse, Nikobrew, Label Peelers, YV, HopsDirect and Rebel typically have the best pricing. But it can be difficult to piece together an order of multiple pounds of what I need to offset shipping. One store will have an excellent deal on Amarillo, but no EKG and Magnum that I really need right now :p

Yakima Valley is where I usually find the best deals. I usually am not looking for specific hops and will go with what is on sale. Sometimes they do 8 oz or 16 oz package deals that are priced really well.

Thanks all! I went to 3 sites. It seems Nicobrew had a sale . Otherwise the prices seemed to be really close. I will still buy my yeast and grains and my LHBS.

Yakima has stupidly good sales every so often. I've got pounds and pounds from them for five bucks a pound. So you really want to be on their e-mail list.

I buy pellets in pounds, and my lhbs has scattered coverage in this space.
If they have something on my list I'll get it there just on GPs.

Otherwise I shop the interwebs for pounds by delivered price, and usually end up buying from Hops Direct, Farmhouse Brewing, Label Peelers, Ritebrew or AHS. One of them will have the cheapest price and I don't have a particular affinity for any of them...

Cheers!
