Where is the best place to order DME or LME these days? The search function on this site is difficult, i have to click on each thread, than see it is from 2009.

My first stop for all things brewing is ritebrew. I have also ordered from Midwest supplies and northern brewer and Williams brewing over the years.

but who has the best deal...i don't necessarily care about customer service for this order, i am not in a rush for it be shipped within 48hours of order placement

Seriously, spend 10 minutes comparing prices with shipping and figure it out.

so you dont know off the top of your head? your an extract brewer? i have to imagine prices are pretty stable that they change but not month to month. You have your main well known vendors that you can price compare...but there are also sources for single ingredients, like dmemart, 50poundsacks, etc.

dont be a ******

My local HB store is the cheapest place I have found for Extract. I buy 33 lbs for $60. I've yet to see a better price. I buy many other things on-line, but I can't beat their price for bulk Extract.

Second checking with your local store. My store has prices that match the lowest I've found online. Plus I don't have to pay for shipping so I'm really saving a lot.

If you don't have anything good to say, don't say it all. You guys are just being difficult. It would take someone along time to research the various sites, add extract to carts and compare prices so why not ask for the advice? It takes along time to do all of that. I know because I do it quite often. At the end of the day whenever I put in for a large dme purchase it seems as if Ritebrew.com takes the cake. Yes they charge by weight of shipment but at $9.49 per 3 lb bag of dme you cannot beat it. Even with 18$ shipping they automatically deduct 5$ of shipping costs for a 75$ order and are extremely prompt and we'll organized on the shipping aspect. This price point beats most anyone and especially my typical favorite of morebeer.com with their charges being $12.99 per 3 lb bag of dme. That is ridiculously priced.

your LHBS is probably best if you factor in shipping. If you live far outside of a city, that's a different story.

ok i should of reworded to this to best online price....dmemart?

When I was buying extract, Midwest gave me the best price on lme. But I wasn't buying it bulk. Most of the major vendors are pretty close. I found that best way to cut costs is to go all grain.

For me to find a good price online has been difficult as well.

I found a local shop that sells Pilsen light for $2 per pound. I picked up 9 pounds today.

If it's cheaper somewhere online please post.

Where in Ohio is this place? I'm a fair distance from the major cities so I have to plan trips on the weekends or just order off the Web...

I use eBay to get DME for my starters. Often it is free shipping and I haggle. Just because the price is listed at $4/pound doesn't mean you can't message the seller and ask for a discount. I usually offer to buy a bunch if they knock the price down to $2.50/pound. At least that way they are still making some money.

Just to give an update to this old post: if you ask morebeer.com to price match their dme ($13 per 3lbs.) to ritebrew.com ($9.59 per 3lbs.) they will do so. Customer service is wonderful there. Never had a problem. Plus you can't beat free shipping
