I run hot water through the tubing, follow with sanitizing solution of either Potassium Metabisulfite or Sodium Metabisulfite (stuff I have for sanitizing my wine equipment), then another rinse with hot water. Then, if motivated enough, will go out to the shed and blast through a couple times with compressed air to blow most of the remaining water out of the tube. If I am not motivated enough for the trip to the shed for the air compressor, I will sling out as much as I can and hang them over the shower rod in the spare bathroom for a couple days. Once dry, I roll them up and keep them in a plastic tote with all my other supplies.

I rinse well with hot water, put in a oxy-type cleaning solution while cleaning everything else. Rinse again with hot water, sanitize by running star-san through it and then air drying and storage in a closed container with the rest of my small brewing items. I do this as soon as I'm finished brewing or using my equipment.

I rinse with hot water, then soak in oxyclean for an hour, rinse well and drain.
I then dunk in iodophor just before using to sanitize it.

-a.

Yeah, getting that last bit of water out is a pain. I clean it the best I can. let it hang for a couple of days in the utility closet where our water heater is, and then take special care to sanitize before using again.

This is pretty much my technique - I have whipped myself in the nuts a couple of times getting the water out! I then repeat it (without the bruising) before i use them again

Sorry for digging up an old thread here, but I'd be pretty hesitant to assume that using an air compressor to blow out the hoses leaves them clean. Have you ever seen the inside of an air compressor tank? Not pretty. I don't know if there would be any types of bacteria that could survive in there, but the gunge that is found within is nasty.

I rinse well with cold water before I store them. Before use I just soak them in an idophor base sanitizing solution.

I don't have hot water where I brew, rack and bottle (cause it's ouside) and I don't want to bother running in the kitchen.

Well, the question was "Best practice? Cleaning and Storing", so I answered with emphasis on the storing aspect. I doubt that anything particularly harmful from the air compressor would survive the sterilization before I use them again.

You're probably right.

Even so, I've seen the inside of a few compressor tanks, and the oil/rust/liquid cancer-looking stuff in there isn't going anywhere near my brewing equipment. :D

I do about the same. Some of the above posts seem a little overkill, but then again, they probably won't have any comtamination issues either. After I'm done with them, I clean them out with soap and water and rinse well, then let them air dry. To use them I clean them to get the possible dust out and then soak in star-san.

I don't even use soap for cleaning the hoses. I figure that just rinsing them well should do the trick since there is no oily residue in brewing.
