Yep, I grew up in TN.
Nope, I do not twerk.

I grew up in *East* TN, thank you very much. I have no issues with Memphis in general, they have fantastic blues bars.
Used to spend a lot of time in Memphis. Loved the Memphis in May festival, the music and of course the BBQ. Once we took our kids (then 5 and 7, now 45 and 47), stayed at the Peabody downtown (they loved the parading of the ducks through the lobby of the hotel), and visited Mud Island when it first opened. Beale Street hadn't really grown all glitzy glam touristy trappy back then.

SWMBO'd and I took a sentimental journey through the area a few years back. Like most metropolitan areas, it was not how we remembered it. Sad. I was really looking forward to dry ribs at the Rendezvous. 😞

Ah, Mud Island, yes.
And the last time I was on Beale was in 1980. I can't even imagine what it looks like now.
Kinda like Nashville in the 70s vs now.

Funeral Priest Not Sure How Obliquely To Talk About Hot Air Balloon Accident

TULSA, OK—Expressing concern about the most appropriate way to laud the life of a departed parishioner at her funeral, local priest Father Thomas O’Mannon was reportedly unsure Wednesday how obliquely to speak about the woman’s fatal hot air balloon accident. “I think it’s fine to say something like, ‘Lisa was an adventurous spirit,’ but it’s definitely too much to mention the Sky Sailors Hot Air Balloon Company specifically,” said O’Mannon, who crumpled up a draft of the eulogy that had a lengthy paragraph comparing the deceased to a dove flying above the earth. “The more I think about it, the more I’m realizing that I shouldn’t mention anything about ‘ascending to heaven’ whatsoever. And I think to be on the safe side, I should also lose any references to the sky, floating, expanding, wind, clouds, or The Wizard Of Oz. Okay, back to square one.” At press time, O’Mannon confirmed he had decided to just speak from the heart with an extended diatribe about the importance of wicker maintenance.

We have river otters that swim up the storm drains to our pond's overflow pipe from a much bigger pond a quarter mile away. That pond is part of a miles long chain eventually leading to a river. They usually come in pairs and are quite large, probably close to 20 pounds. When they get rockin' searching the pond for anything with a pulse the whole pond rocks with 'em. They hang out for an hour or so, and I've literally watched them float around on their backs while munching frogs and crawfish.

When they leave there's usually no signs of life left
