Blues brothers Come on, ray Charles, cab Calloway Aretha Franklin and so many others.

Beat me to it. That's the best, hands down. But yes, a big +1 to Singles and to O Brother, Where Art Thou?

I'll cast another vote for old John Hugues movies like Pretty in Pink, Ferris Bueller, and Some Kind of Wonderful.

Any Scorsese film for that matter.

Scorcese, Crowe, and Tarantino all have a knack for great music in their movies.

Also I'm a sucker for the music in any Ken Burns documentary. His documentary on Jazz was great but the music backing Baseball, the War, etc. are also all awesome.

Matrix Reloaded, Pink Floyd: The Wall, Crossroads, Jimi Hendrix (yes it's a movie), Pirate Radio, The Song Remains The Same (yes, it's a movie), and of course, The Blues Brothers & O Brother Where Art Thou.
And just because Mozart was an 18th century rocker, Amadeus.
Regards, GF.

Come on you guys!

Enough already! Admit it! Time to embrace the little girl inside you!

The last one is Mad World right? Good song and pretty perfect in that movie.

Yes, Mad World....covered by I believe Gary Jules. It was originally a Tears for Fears song. Another Tears for Fears song is also in the movie, "Head Over Heels." Great movie, and great soundtrack

I'm kind of surprised August Rush hasn't been mentioned. Some absolutely great guitar songs in there - one of them instantly recognizable as Kaki King to anyone that knows her style.

Donnie Darko still absolutely kills it as far as I am concerned.

I fully accept that my timing of birth has a lot to do with it. I was at the right age to half hear some of those in conjunction with my teen angst, which counterpoints the movie brilliantly and leaves a soundtrack that stands on it's own.

Snatch. The songs that stand out the most for me are Disco Science: hare coursing/Tyrone rundown scene, Golden Brown: post Mickey vs Gorgeous George fight) and Lucky Star: Bullet Tooth Tony has Mullet's head stuck in the car window while driving down the street.
