Hello, I sure hope this question has not been asked 100 times already. If it has, please accept my apologies ahead of time.

I want to start kegging beer, but I live in an apartment and having one of those full-size kegerators just isn't an option for me. I was thinking about getting a mini-kegerator, having a few get-togethers with friends to help me empty a few mini-kegs of inferior beer, and then kegging my own homebrew.

To be perfectly honest, I sort of find the process a little intimidating. Apparently there is a lot of work involved with kegerators... changing out keg lines and stuff like that. Still, the idea of coming home and pouring myself a fresh draft homebrew is too appealing to let the fear of something new keep me from going for it.

Does anyone else use mini-kegs for their homebrew? If so, I'd love to hear your thoughts on the best mini-kegerators, and the best mini-kegged beer to purchase for them so I can have my own to refill.

Yes, I know you can only reuse a mini-keg a few times... I'll adapt.

Check out the Party Pig it's a solid performer and dirt simple to fill, drain, and clean. I've been using the same bottles for years now with only a few problems to date. I didn't clamp down the lid tight enough once so it leaked once the carbonation pressure started to build. Had a dispensing valve drip constantly once due to some hop debris getting stuck inside of it. All in all if you are on the fence about kegging this is a simple way to dip your toe in the water without a steep learning curve. I buy the pouches in bulk and toss them in the fridge until needed. They have a shelf live of way more than a year in my experience.

I live in a 900 sq ft 1 bedroom apartment. I converted this fridge to a kegerator and it works really well. Had it for a couple years now and works like a charm.

I modified the side walls and can fit two kegs in it (I have one 2.5 and one 5) There is still enough room for bottles and cans of commercial beer.

If you're not convinced that you can make that work, I second the party pig which was mentioned above.
