Maybe a light pale ale with cascade hops? The citrus flavor of cascade would brighten up the fish & seasonings in my opinion.

That sounds good. Fish tacos made with some sort of beer glaze is popular here in Bend Or. All breweries have some sort of special fish taco but then again Bend is a Hippie/Yuppie town!
Id go with a amber lme so you get more carmel notes in the sauce. Maybe pair it with a noble hop for a bit of spicy finish

What kind of fish is in a fish taco ?......And is lettuce, tomato on it as well, like a regular taco bell taco ?.........

The idea of a light pale ale or blonde ale with cascade also came to mind. I made a DME batch once with 5lbs light DME, 1lb corn sugar and one ounce of cascade divided equally at 60, 30, and 15 minutes. I may have dry hopped an extra ounce of cascade, I can't recall. I fermented with US-05 and it finished dry. It went from 1.047 to 1.008. It was a tasty and refreshing beer that I think would have gone well with fish tacos.

In restaurants around here, I'm use to choices between catfish, cod, mahi mahi, and shrimp. They are usually topped with some sort of slaw and served with a lime on the side to flavor. I make mine with mahi mahi or cod on a corn tortilla and stuff it with shredded cabbage that's been soaking in lime juice. I then add some creamy jalapeño sauce.

Sorry guys, I wasnt clear enough. I am looking to make a batch to drink with fish tacos. What kits feom NB would you recommend?

If they have a kit for a dark mexican lager (a la Negra Modello), I'd go with that. I made the extract version of that out of Brewing Classic Styles, it was great with fish tacos.

I still say a pale ale, even in kit form would be good. Like Midwest's cascade pale ale. The partial mash version was bloody good.

It's still relatively early here and now you've made me hungry for lunch! :)

Get the cabbage soaking in some lime juice right now and it will be ready for some fish tacos at dinner time.

This thread is making me want some fish tacos and a blonde ale as well.

I know you said you want a kit but there is a lemon line heff on these forums that is awesome with fish tacos

I was just going to mention a Hefe of some kind. The lightness of them and the citrus notes go really well in general with fish.

If it is a white fish with a delicate flavor, i would go with a hefe or Blonde. If it is salmon or Ahi i would go with a dark lager or cali-common. Lemon in the Hefe and lime in the dark lager.
